Geraldine Classen

About Geraldine

I was born in Yorkshire, England where I studied art part time.  In 1966, I moved to Saskatoon Canada to work at the University Hospital.  I continued to attend art classes and to exhibit my paintings.  In 1970, I moved to Ottawa where I focused on making woven wall hangings.  During the next 20 years I designed sweaters for my Glebe business 'Penelope’s Haberdashery'.

Ten years ago we bought a house in Chapala, Mexico where I now spend the winter.  I am a member of the 'Painting Ladies' with whom I exhibit whilst in Mexico.

In Portage du Fort, Quebec, where I spend the summers, I am a member of the Pontiac Artist’s Association and enjoy painting the beautiful landscape in this region of Canada.

I love to paint outside in acrylic and later develop the work in oil, often using a knife.   My most recent work is mixed media using photo print, stone and wax, as well as oil paint.
